At around 5:10 a.m. on August 5, police responded to the 2300 block of Columbia Pike where they found a female victim, outside the residence, suffering serious but non-life threatening injuries, according to the Arlington County Police Department.
The suspect, off-duty police officer William Hahn, and the victim got into an argument after a night out, officials said.
Police said Hahn broke the victim's phone and threw her to the ground, before physically assaulting her.
Once the two got the Columbia Pike residence, Hahn hit the woman in the face during another bout of fighting, authorities reported.
A witness called law enforcement upon seeing the victim's injuries and Hahn was taken into custody, officials said.
Hahn, who was hired by the force in June 2020, was charged with malicious wounding and destruction of property, Arlington police reported.
Police said he was held without bond.
